The Purpose of Septoplasty

April 21, 2017

Rhinoplasty and septoplasty are two surgical procedures that focus on altering characteristics of the nose. The difference between the two is that rhinoplasty is a general term for surgical alteration of any aspect of the nose and can refer to aesthetic or functional enhancement, while septoplasty is a specific corrective surgery for the nasal septum.

Many people are born with nasal deformities that have caused the septum to obstruct the nasal passages, while other patients experience septal damage as a result of an accident. Septoplasty is designed to improve the flow of air through the nasal passages.

Dr. Jeffrey Swail is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has the skill, knowledge, and confidence necessary to perform a successful septoplasty with fantastic results. Contact us to schedule a consultation for your septoplasty procedure.
